Comedian Broda Shaggi gets emotional in a teaser for his new documentary, set to explain why he stepped away from social media and work after March 9.
For months, people have been asking where Broda Shaggi went. Now the comedian is getting ready to answer, and even the teaser has left him visibly emotional.
Shaggi shared snippets of his upcoming documentary on X, and in the clip he calls March 9, 2026 a day he wishes had never happened. He doesn’t give the full story in the teaser, but you can tell it still weighs on him. Those details are being saved for the film, which was scheduled for release on October 21.

The timing will ring a bell for people who followed the news earlier this year. Around mid-March, reports said the skit maker had been hospitalised with a gunshot injury while filming near the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
At the time, the Ogun police command said it couldn’t confirm the incident and that nothing had been reported at any of its stations. Shaggi stayed quiet for a long while, and by August he had broken his silence to say he’d be back stronger.
Fans have been quick to show support. Rapper Olamide, reacting to the clip, wrote that he’s “glad he survived it.” Many others online say they can’t wait to hear the story from the man himself and to see him back in the spotlight.
Shaggi, whose real name is Samuel Animashaun Perry, built his name on skits and a loud, unforgettable street character that turned him into one of Nigeria’s most recognisable online entertainers. People know him as the one who makes them laugh. This time, he’s telling a much heavier story in his own words, and a lot of people will be watching to see how he does it.
