Blessing CEO cried as she apologised to Nigerians for her past remarks and asked for prayers after her son Bryan’s death. IVD also asked for forgiveness.

Blessing CEO has had a rough few months, and on Tuesday she let Nigerians see how heavy it has been. In an emotional Instagram video, the relationship expert and influencer, whose real name is Blessing Okoro, broke down in tears inside a car. She apologised for things she said in the past and asked people to pray for her after the death of her son, Bryan.

She described herself as broken, confused and ashamed of some of her past actions. Her biggest regret, she said, was speaking carelessly about pain she had never felt herself. She admitted that words alone won’t prove she means it, and said she wants to prove it through her actions. She even compared herself to the prodigal son in the Bible, saying she’s ready to retrace her steps and mend things with people she hurt.

The video also got personal. She spoke to her late son, whom she calls “Dum Dum”, told him how much she misses him, and promised to make things right so he can be proud of her in heaven. At one point she said she’s losing herself, then added, “Pray for me because I am exhausted from praying by myself.”

Bryan died in June 2026 while Blessing was in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos over separate fraud allegations. She was released on bail in late October and has been speaking publicly about her grief since then.

Her apology also comes after earlier backlash. Many Nigerians criticised her comments about domestic violence and the death of IVD’s former wife, Bimbo Ogbonna, accusing her of showing little empathy. Her relationship with IVD, which became public after Bimbo’s death, drew scrutiny too.

Grief can change how people see the things they once said so easily. Whether Nigerians will accept this apology is a different matter, but it’s clear that losing her son has shaken her deeply.
